These are some extraordinary and precarious times for our democracy if the majority believe that some person or class of individuals is above the law and the individual who is elected as the head of our executive branch of government can pardon himself for past crimes and misdemeanors without public input and/or Legislative branch and Judicial branch approval.

Sorry but this is absurdly and dangerously naïve. In the first place, the documents case isn’t going to be settled prior to the election: Cannon has already made it clear she’s all-in on Trump’s delay strategy. In the second, if (God forbid) Trump is re-elected, he and his followers have stated explicitly that they’re throwing the Constitution out the window (see the recent WaPo and NYT storied). Whether or not the Constitution allows self-pardons couldn’t be of less concern to them. Trump will appoint loyalists to the DOJ who will dismiss all the cases against him, and will then start charging his perceived enemies. We know this because they’ve told us that’s the plan.
