Fighting back against illiberalism requires understanding it. In the inaugural episode of Reactionary Minds, host Aaron Ross Powell has a wide-ranging conversation with Shikha Dalmia, editor of The UnPopulist, on the biggest challenge of our times: The resurgent threat of populist authoritarianism here and abroad.</p><p><a href="https://theunpopulist.substack.com/p/shikha-dalmia-on-the-past-present">Read a transcript of this episode.</a></p><p>Subscribe to Reactionary Minds: <a href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/reactionary-minds-with-aaron-ross-powell/id1622086432">Apple Podcasts</a> | <a href="https://open.spotify.com/show/0mksPX2U4HIF2Xp8DXba5e">Spotify</a></p><p>Listen and subscribe to The UnPopulist: https://theunpopulist.substack.com/</p><p>Find us on Twitter at <a href="https://twitter.com/shikhadalmia">@shikhadalmia</a> and <a href="https://twitter.com/ARossP">@ARossP</a></p>
I gotta say, as a conservative (some may argue a reactionary), I actually listened to this podcast. Isn't that fascinating? I wonder what the "non-threatening" left would do about something they disagree with?
Alas, I don't think either of you can see the forest for the trees. As a Canadian, I will discuss the Canadian situation. Do we honestly believe that the covid policies that we had for the past two years (and continue to have federally) are in any way beneficial to the people? Arguably not. And in fact, the entire constitution was completely thrown out the window... That is, with the exception of protests that the elites (that is, the people in power) agree with (eg. BLM). Do you guys not see the utter hypocrisy that is going on? How about the utter corruption of "the establishment"? And yet, here we are, wailing about how much of a threat right wing populism is, while ignoring the very real current threat of total corruption of the state and its actors.
Wonderful discussion, I look forward to future episodes!

But I digress. Absolutely absurd
