The American Civil War is interesting to study regarding religion and Christianity. People on both sides were using religious arguments and references to Bible in order to argue pro- and against slavery, as well as the war itself. Also, before the war started, many Americans, who at that time were more Virginians and New Yorkers as a stronger sense of identification, agreed on statements such as that "we in the North/South do not have the same culture as them"

Considering the position of House Speaker is one of the most powerful positions in the country (from what I understand the speaker is 3rd in line to the presidency) I'd expect a little patience and due process for choosing someone to such a position. Or should they just shovel in just anybody who can get their foot in the door?
