Personally, I don't believe that Netanyahu will survive politically post-war.

Apart from his wildly unpopular efforts to decimate Israel's democracy and rule of law to protect against the consequences of his corruption, Netanyahu's refusal to accept multiple intelligence warnings of Israel's vulnerability to Hamas, and inability even to apologize for the massive security failures will not be forgotten.

I thought he same about Cheney and Bush after 9/11. Sadly they were both exalted as heroes by our celebrity besotted culture.

Run away from issues, fast. And then claim that you "won." Shame.

Declaring yourself "objective" and moral doesn't make it so. To allege my support for mass murder while you excuse it in the process of it happening is rich projection.

"I have no doubt that it can."

Really? No doubt? Israeli's ability to conduct foreign policy is as degraded as the rest of the West thanks to decades of altruistic ideas like Just War theory dominating the mainstream. Even as the bodies of slaughtered families still smoulder they are not annihilating Hamas, they are trying to save Hamas members from retribution.

Everyone, including authors on this site, even the IDF itself, are committed to saving Hamas.

So, as I watch Israel (and the West's) slow motion suicide, as a result of total intellectual and moral bankruptcy, I would have a few doubts. Quite a few.

Bibi will be forgiven because he intends to satisfy the Israeli appetite for vengeance with genocide or ethnic cleansing.

If that was true it would be both righteous and over days ago.

Not necessarily. Maybe waiting for American military industrial complex to replenish the 6000 bombs they've gone through in one week and maybe not ready for mutually assured destruction from nuclear fallout. Also the nazis took their time even with efficient methods.

You're the one defending Nazi's by suggesting destroying them would be genocide.

Seems like you have a lot of confusion to figure your way through.

Actually, I think you are giving cover to the naziesque behavior of Israel by denying a brutal atrocity taking place on Palestinian civilians in real time. But then if you can justify Israel's terroristic bombardment of Gaza then you probably think 1 million children are Hamas. I've figured out quite a bit by studying the slippery rhetoric of pro-Israel advocates and filling in the contextual blanks they leave in their narratives..

If Gazians wanted to NOT be bombarded, giving up all the hostages would be a sign of good faith and a decent start, wouldn't you think?

HAMAS knows that Israel cares more about Palestinian children than they do.

You're just accusing victims acting in retaliation of being "naziesque" as you run interference for actual Nazis.

You seem to have a blind loyalty to Israel -likely cultivated by an intimidated and accommodating media that never bothers to cover Israel's depredations. Palestinian deaths, if covered at all, tend to get covered as numbers and not with any of the sympathy or personal stories afforded to Israeli casualties. Israel actually seems to make sure that its terroristic actions dont get media coverage. They've already killed 12 Palestinian journalists this past week and have cut off electricity making reporting from Gaza difficult.

Not that you care or have bothered to find out, but over 500,000 Israelis have moved themselves into a web of illegal settlements of occupied Palestinian territory in the West Bank under the protection of the IDF. A Haaretz journalist and editor describes the behaviors of the settlers as pogroms with destruction and appropriation of Palestinians' property. Again IDF is there protecting the illegal activities of settlers, not the rights of Palestinians. The West Bank Palestinian territory territories have been illegally occupied for 50 years. Israeli settlers demand illegal access to West Bank territory as right of return from a claim from 2000 years ago but deny Gazans the right of return to the homes they fled and were forced out of in Israel 74 years ago -against international law

(that didn't exist at the time of the Jewish diaspora. An Israeli historian describes Israel having commenced the aggression of that war because they couldn't sustain a prolonged deployment to see if Egypt was going to aggress, so Israel decided to instigate the 1967 war as a calculated bet. After over 40 years of occupation Gaza has been blockaded for 16 years and Israel immediately attempted to overthrow its elected Hamas government at that time. Israel has controlled electricity and water to the area of Gaza and has provided about 3 hours of electricity per day until it shut it off this past week. Israel has created a surveillance state in Gaza that rivals East Germany. The casualty rates of Palestinians in any violent interaction with Israelis is always made to far exceed Israeli casualties. Hamas , founded 20 years after the Israeli occupation began, may have a founding document dedicated to elimination of Israelis but Hamas was actually nutured early on by Israel in an attempt to undermine the PLO and a two state solution and Bibi has found Hams useful for tge same even im the last 15 years. Hamas is not an existential threat to Israel, but Israel is an existential threat to Gazans and West Bank Palestinians and in fact is currently illegally conducting a deadly siege of the 2.2 million population of Gaza against international law. Israeli politicians and Israel advocates are using eliminationist language in reference to the whole of Gaza in which 2.2 million Palestinians are trapped in hellish conditions of constant bombardment and before that ad endured a condition highly controlled by Israel. 2.2 million Gazans, half of whom are children, are essentially hostages of Israel who are now being murdered - one ever five minutes.

Yes the Israeli deaths were lamentable and horrific. Many of the family members have publicly pleaded for a halt to the conduct of a retributive war but the most virulent of Israelis seem intent on exploiting the opportunity for reasons of expansion and excessively vengeance.

So Israel breaks international law repeatedly making justifications that have no basis in law and has a double standard for itself in right of return and "self-defense" which is just cover for doing whatever they want to do because might makes right is their mantra. All that is quite typical of nazi behavior.

Horrific violence has been committed in most all attempts to free people from sociopathic levels of oppression. It took horrific acts of violence to free blacks from slavery. That is a fact and such violence is also "self-defense" in its rekindling a forgotten Palestinian cause among its allies as Israel engages in excess vengeance.

Israel could defend itself without a war on Hamas and Gazan Palestinians that will end in failure because of the simple reason that it will breed a regenerative animosity that will sustain it in traumatized survivors and allies.

You may not like that all that doesn't fit your narrative of Israel good, Palestinian-Arabs bad, but too bad because nations and individuals are complicated amalgams of good and bad, and Israel has taken a dark path since its traumatized and terroristic inception. It's been good at disguising its darkness using sympathy from its people's own past victimization, it's subjugants reactive violence, anti-arab,/anti-muslim bias of the West, and it's smooth command of slippery and deceptive rhetoric in Western languages. But its atrocities and deceptions are being exposed. Changing course is still an option for them. The current course doesn't bode well for them either.
