From the Fall of 1991 and the collapse of the USSR until September 11, 2001 America believed it was Supreme. That the world (or most of it) would follow us into a golden age of peace, the flourishing of liberal democracy and the expansion of capitalism strengthening the global economy.
All of this stopped on 9/11/01. The illusion of the natural ascendancy of the West was shattered by the reality of a world that sees things quite differently than us.
I really do believe almost all the ills of the world today can be traced back to the fall of the USSR and 9/11 and our imprudent reaction to those events. It was a lost decade characterized by self centered prosperity and self satisfaction and the negligence of the world around us who experienced the world very differently from ourselves, economically and culturally.
9/11 was our wake up alarm. Have we learned anything yet?

ICE is a domestic terrorist organization that has murdered US citizens in cold blood.
What ICE is doing is not Constitutional. I recommend reading Kentucky Resolutions written by Thomas Jefferson dealing with the Alien and Sedition Acts of John Adams. Jefferson did not take credit for them.
The espionage act of 1917 and the patriot act also not constitutional.

The main reason USA gets so many illegal immigrants from Central America and Mexico - Eisenhower used the CIA to terrorize the people of Guatemala because of business ties his administration had with United Fruit. When you break it, you own it. USA has nationalized industries in peace time and War. Steel and coal may have been nationalized when Harry Truman was President.
Golden Rule of Politics - when your nation causes a great deal of harm to countries that have never harmed it, the country should not be surprised when countries it has never harmed cause massive harm to it to protect themselves.
