No previous president, Republican or Democrat, not even FDR, who was not averse to horrible executive excesses, is doing a fraction of what this administration is doing. Holding your opponents to a standard of perfection to excuse actual criminality and worse is not acting in good faith.

Also, even if he had said that, which he did not, it is pretty clear to anyone alive then (like me) that the only reason that the articles of impeachment were never voted on in the House even though fully drawn up was because of Nixon's preemptive resignation. His impeachment, and likely removal after trial in the Senate was fully expected. In our minds he was as good as impeached and hopefully removed. There weren't enough partisan hacks like Nebraska Senators Roman L. Hruska and Carl T. Curtis to save him.

And a Supreme Court as interested in defending the interests of legislative branch of Government as in protecting the most corrupt President in American history. Imagine how this court would handle turning over the "smoking gun tapes" that Congress demanded from Nixon. That is why I think even if Mike Johnson fails in stopping the subpoena of the "Epstein Files" I am sure Trump's appeal to the Supreme Court will save him. Once again.
