Trump exploiting the death Charlie Kirk?? The man was gunned down for inviting people to debate.
Have you seen the 1000s and 1000s of Far Left activists CELEBRATING the man's death? They are celebrating it because the Left have been INCORRECTLY calling Trump a fascist and a Nazi for a decade.
The Left has created a culture of victimhood, programmed everyone on the Far Left to believe that speech is violence, and then has mostly condoned some of the most savage attacks on innocent people in US history.
BLM riots
Antifa
Church shootings
Trump assassination attempt x 2
Charlie Kirk assassination
Pro life pregnancy center fires
Tesla vandalism
Attacks against ICE agents
Attacks against police
Attacks against federal courthouses
Vandalism against history artifacts and artwork
There is no close comparison on the Right, and until the Left starts taking accountability nobody will take them seriously...in case you haven't noticed.
The Left needs to stop calling anyone who opposes them a fascist and a Nazi. They are over using the terms and degrading society because of it.
This is a pretty interesting article. My biggest question throughout this whole scenario is, what exactly counts as free speech here? On one hand, you have people who openly celebrate Charlie Kirk's death and deliberately misquote him to justify being heartless. On the other hand, you have people openly calling for civil war and wanting Trump to use Charlie's death as an excuse to punish anyone who calls him a dictator or criticizes him or the right using government power. It's become very confusing to determine what is an appropriate use of free speech rights and what crosses into abusing those rights to hurt others. I wouldn't trust the doctors, lawyers, scientists, and other professionals who cheered Charlie's death in their jobs, but I also believe the people wanting to persecute others merely for calling out Trump and his allies are attacking the Constitution. It's tough to tell what to do, and each case is different. I hope Americans will maintain cooler heads and let reason and rationality prevail.
As always the contrarian here, to wit, the ghastly murder of a right is wrong shock radio host is Not Necessarily the News…and like the demise of George Floyd’s faces of death video gone wild…Derick Chauvin committing manslaughter is no more representative of Amerika, I mean white policeman, than some 22 year old angry young [white] man (I bet there is a 100 % chance he did not have a girlfriend) picking up a gun a shooting someone in cold blood is representative of anything else than his depraved soul…land may he get a taste of his own bad medicine, literally. Please do not make like the terrible mainstream media that we have been infected by our entire lives…if it bleeds, it leads.
Trump says, "the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree."
But isn't that what Charlie Kirk did? He demonized those with whom he disagreed and he suffered the tragic consequence. I can't feel too sorry about it.
Also, who wrote that speech for Trump? He certainly didn't. The giveaway is the "with whom." Actual good grammar!
None of this was unpredictable or unexpected. If it hadn't been Charlie Kirk it would have been someone else sooner or later. The same irrational responses would follow and the exploration and threat of draconian measures against "enemies of the state" would come.
The most revealing part of the reaction from Trump on down is that it has nothing to do with the safety of people and little to do with some hoped for deterrent effect to stop violence. It is all about recrimination, retribution and revenge.
And that includes anyone who did not respond correctly or politely to the assassination.
"'Republican Congressman Clay Higgins wrote that he will use, "Congressional authority and every influence with big tech platforms to mandate immediate ban for life of every post or commenter that belittled the assassination of Charlie Kirk...' He further states 'I’m also going after their business licenses and permitting, their businesses will be blacklisted aggressively, they should be kicked from every school, and their drivers licenses should be revoked. I’m basically going to cancel with extreme prejudice these evil, sick animals who celebrated Charlie Kirk’s assassination.'" (Quoted from "The Chris Hedges Report.")
The irrational overreaction is clear here. The threats are fairly funny to those of us only casually engaged with the antisocial media. But coming from a man who has sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution the mindset is nauseating.
Yes there will be a civil war. It will probably be more like Northern Ireland than someplace like Syria or Bosnia with clearly defined opponents. Outbursts of violence interspersed with periods of tense quiet. The police state along with right wing volunteer militias confronting a largely invisible but violent resistance--- ANTIFA on steroids composed of lone wolves (like Kirk's assassin probably was) and off the grid cell groups. History has shown repeatedly that one man's "terrorist" is another man's freedom fighter.
You don’t believe in trying to save humanity, but you have already convinced yourself that if it hadn’t been Kirk, it would have been some other unspoken of victim of an unnamed assassin’s bullet…like you have some crystal ball, or is it more like a cube Hari could see the future…for I believe I am properly inferring from your rant that some other rightist political shock jokey host would have been, or will be, on the receiving end of a barrel…because that is the irredeemable political world you seem to be implying we are living in (I prefer to say We the Living in Idiocracy, like Ayn Rand meets Mike Judge, both being prophetic as Neil Postman, but I digress parenthetically). Anywho, to wit, like the ghastly faces of death George Floyd video gone viral because of a bleeds that leads subculture, the big three network news desk have always been in the entertainment business and desire your channel clicker, and like FOXXXY News, will even use smoking hot Dixie chicks to get you to not change that dial.
Derick Chauvin is no more representative of your average white policeman then some young jackwad is of our nations youth, truth be damned when it comes to ratings. Here’s hoping for the best for the two surviving kids (forgive me Jesus, not so much for a woman who would sleep with such an insufferable Trump apologist wearing a Jesus Says T shirt) and here’s especially hoping the 22 year old gets a dose of his own bad medicine, whether that is a deterrent, or not. Gotta run on ✌️
LOL. Thanks for the good laugh. I endeavor to make one think a second time and, even better, make one do just that. I can take a joke. I am merely responding to a your posts, that, to wit, sounds like a know it all psychohistory professor. I thought wrong (don’t quote me on that) you Hari, I mean Harley, would have gotten my chiding you, I mean likening to Asimov’s character. Anywho, I always feel better when someone actually can respond to something I wrote in respectful disagreement, as I feel so strongly that the murder of Charlie Kirk is no more representative of America than any of the other people who were murdered on September 10th. In other words, if it ain’t like George Floyd’s or Kirk’s demise….nothing to see you here. Back to you Harley, fake news (and psychohistory) at 11.
"Maybe" because I don't know anything about him so I could not say yes or no. The saving humanity bit is from an AI Google result. No one has to save humanity it will save itself--- or not.
A study of Spinoza, Hegel and Nietzsche with a little Nostradamus thrown in and no crystal balls are required.
The transition from dictatorship to democracy is far more complicated and difficult than Sharp recognizes. Our situation is even more complex because we are transitioning from democracy to dictatorship to democracy. The dictatorship has already destroyed the institutional framework and infrastructure that made our democracy possible. Trying to put back the pieces will take a Herculean effort and decades.
Additionally 1/3 of the nation wants the dictatorship and another 1/3 will tolerate it so long as nothing interferes with their day to day lives.
There is a significant blood-lust at this moment that will not be satisfied without the shedding of blood. The cycle of recrimination, retribution and revenge will roll on. The old cliche about the blood of tyrants and patriots (however defined) is true.
In the end the choice may be being herded like sheep onto the boxcar headed for Auschwitz. Or actually resisting. Of course you will say that isn't even possible.
As they said in the 1960s the revolution will not be televised and today it will not happen on the antisocial media either.
No but I have read other things from the Einstein Institution (years ago) which are just different iterations of the same materials and theories as found in "From Dictatorship to Democracy." I just disagree with his thesis on power. No time to detail here because it's all theoretical.
Obviously nonviolence is preferable to violence. But sometimes violence is all that is available and at hand.
The world where he studied nonviolent "revolutions" is gone. Technology has changed everything to such an extent the past is truly over. Erica Chenowith claims that only 3.5% of a population is needed to nonviolently overthrow a government. That would be 12 Million Americans spread across 50 states but probably concentrated in about 13 to 23 states. Strategic planning becomes difficult at distances that the tyrants can't disrupt. Social media presents problems of disinformation and false flags that misdirect civil disobedience efforts.
And even if we toppled the regime half of the country is and will be determined to not let the 3.5% to have their way.
Thank you, too. Civil engagement forces us all to rethink our positions. We are all just trying to figure out the landscape of the brave new world we are entering.
This shouldn’t surprise anyone who isn’t imbedded in either party. In the end, so many are so indoctrinated in their particular tribe they can longer honor or recognize first principles for themselves. It’s only the other side that is destroying democracy. Good luck to all of us.
Both-sides-ing Trump's latest speech is not OK. He mentioned *only* acts of Left-on-Right political violence; completely omitting any of the more numerous fatalities and injuries of Right-on-Left. Trump even mentioned the attack on Steve Scalise in 2017; but uttered not a peep about the Minnesota assassin only last month who had a list of 37 Democrat office-holders he intended to murder. Similar to Trump, Jesse Watters of FOX News, and others are using Kirk's murder as a Reichstag-fire event calling for civil war. For actual civil war.
Which sharply contrasts to the nearly universal condemnation of any and all political violence coming from the Left right now. At least on the Substacks and media outlets I subscribe to.
The murder of Charlie Kirk will certainly further divide. Trump and his allies will weaponize it to no end. And just by stating this obvious fact (people can watch Jesse Watters and read Laura Loomer), the MAGA crowd will start screaming and try to silence us.
TDS perhaps is not the problem here. In fact, those that use such terms like that might be doing a little more to incite events like this. Just a thought.

He must have a teleprompter in the Oval Office.

Did you even read the book?

Well, let us agree to disagree. I'm encouraged that you did read some stuff from the Einstein Institute. Thank you for your answers.

I think of our political situation as two football teams and their fans and cheerleaders: the Red team and the Blue team.

Excellent piece. Thanks.
There's always got to be one guy who goes into the comments to prove the whole point your article was making.
Perhaps people who use phrases like "rage zombie mob" aren't thinking very clearly.
Back to your hole, George. Nobody cares
Well, somone does. Please try not to be so reckless, George. You are acting a little deranged.
You are living proof TDS afflicts some more than any of dear Donald's critics you could care to name.
