As much as anything van be "proven" in science, you CAN prove a negative. We have a lot of evidence that vaccines don't cause autism. The statement is just wrong. The only reason we don't have more is that the advantages of vaccines are so great that it was considered unethical to perform such an experiment.

It would be important to learn why Cassidy, and others, voted to confirm Kennedy, knowing full well how incompetent (and anti-science) he is. Is there not anything that can be done now, given how clear it has become how much Kennedy simply lied, as this article makes clear?

Lindy's avatar

You know why they voted for him......because they are cowards and sycophants to their dear leader.

If you can't debate the substantive portions of the message, but instead choose to attack the messenger, which is what Liberals tend to consistently gravitate towards, you've already lost. You may as well throw up a white flag as you'd have more respect than just character assassinating someone endlessly.

"Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a fervent anti-vaccine advocate"... Just awful to see you run this trope. He is his father's son, a reluctant—tried to decline—witness and ultimately voice in the wilderness. In his case, for families plunged into vaccine-injury terrain; newly traumatized families being gaslighted to boot. The making of a real live horror movie families are living right here right now.

In the same vein, He did not want to look at the evidence that Sirhan did not fire the bullet that killed his father but in deference to his father's dear friend, Paul Schrade (who also got shot that day) who pressed him, RFKJr did as he was asked to do and read the Robert Kennedy coroner's report. Once you have seen it, you cannot unsee it. That is RFKJr's life. Walk a mile in his moccasins. He has been tempered and honed for the magnitude of what would be asked of him in this life.

YOU PEOPLE need to get a brain!

Lindy's avatar

What is your point??? That we should feel sorry for him? Millions of people have been traumatized in childhood and would not traumatize the rest of the world because of their lack of therapy or awareness. As a nurse, I am appalled that anyone can excuse his bizarre and uneducated opinions. Millions of children and elders will die because of him! And you give him a free ride?

My point is the character assassination is unconscionable.

As I always say, the proof is in the pudding, so let's judge the results of the US 'health care' system.

The US is the UNHEALTHIEST Democratic country in the world. It leads most of the world with diabetes, heart disease, cancers and deaths. In fact, it's SO bad that even though the US is the wealthiest country in the world, the US economy is projected to collapse from health care costs in the near future.

The US allows 'foods', or better put, POISONS into the public's diet that other democratic countries like Canada, Italy, Germany and the rest of Europe do not allow.

One of the US's leading causes of death is accidental, pharmaceutical deaths.

Do you think these three things are related or unrelated?

And where do you stand on these things?

Where do you think RFK stands on these things?

SV's avatar

The point is that he is the voice in the wilderness that nobody else is willing to be.

As someone who FULLY agrees with RFKs perspective on health, and as someone who has been on a similar journey for decades (not years), I along with millions of others are absolutely thrilled that he has been able to shake up the allopathic medical system and turn it on it's ear.

The entire system is CORRUPT, co-opted, and is not primarily interested in human health but rather human profit.

I applaud his attempt to re-calibrate the health system.

"Oh, but people are going to suffer. People are going to die!"

Give me a break with the fear mongering. While worrying about the smaller percentage of people who may get injured about not following established protocols, who is the voice for the millions and millions of people who suffer from a broken, corrupt system?

One of the leading causes of deaths in the US is medical accidents, which include adverse reactions from pharmaceutical drugs.

I have several immediate family members who have died from pharmaceutical reactions.

How about the fact that the US is the single most unhealthy nation out of every democratic, Western country?

People like to look at the pandemic and blame Trump for a poor response (let’s not forget that when he tried to close the borders Liberals scream ‘racism’ at him), but the fact that the US had so many deaths was not a product of Trump’s decision making.

It’s the product of the US being the single most unhealthy country in the Western world. Healthy people were hardly affected by Covid. But UNHEALTHY, overweight, diabetic, heart diseases people suffered greatly.

Why were these people so unhealthy? Easy:

The politicians, lobby and marketing groups have perverted the food system in the US and it is destroying all human life en masse.

We have been seeing momentum in the right direction since RFK got into office. Removing stuff from foods that other countries don’t even allow in their foods is probably the single greatest act of an American politician towards American health in the past 50+ years.

I fully support RFKs ‘quackery’. It blows away the quackery of the American political landscape of the past 50 years and I think great things are still coming.

You people need to stop vilifying the opposition.

You’ve done enough damage to not only the people but to your own political party.

How about some self-reflection rather than just always criticizing the opposition.

And if you don’t believe me, just look at what Non-Americans have to say about America’s diet.

His views belong in the wilderness rather than anywhere near power, because they're incorrect and harmful. His "perspective" on health rejects germ theory. It's wrong. Miasma theory isn't a refreshing and better alternative, and rejecting modern medicine will create far more harm than any good that might be created.

The US is not the least healthy western country, and while American diets are not great, that's not the main reason why. Universal healthcare and better preventative care are the way to fix that, not embracing pseudoscience. Your central theory on this is incorrect.

That's such a great rebuttal.

I'm sure the audience has learned much from our debate. ;-)

Improv's avatar

Whatever empathy one might have for him as a person, his ideas about medicine are medieval and stupid (as he's written he doesn't believe in germ theory), and he's embracing nonsense like movements full of people talking about vaccine injury which pushes those families away from reality and proper medicine and towards wallowing in wrongly-placed blame and resentment.

There are not real horrors RFK Jr is giving voice to. There are extensive horrors his backwards ideas are creating. The country would be far, far better off if he were to retire immediately and if this MAHA nonsense were to rapidly and fully dissolve.

SV's avatar

That's a great word salad and salads are good for you, so I approve.

I'll say it again: The US is the most UNHEALTHY nation of all Western democratic nations.

If you study the economics and feasibility of the health industry, it is quite literally falling off a cliff and unsustainable despite spending more money on health than any other nation on earth. The country is about to go bankrupt simply on the economics of trying to keep people alive.

Why is that?

But yeah, more of the same will fix it. lol

Improv's avatar

You can say it again, but it's not accurate. The US doesn't do particularly well in terms of public health, but it is not the MOST unhealthy. Can the drama.

The reason it's doing badly is well understood as a matter of public policy. The way to fix it is to have a single-payer baseline like Ireland or the UK's NHS, with possibly supplemental private insurance, replacing the private insurance markets we have now that often act as a barrier to preventative or real care. The way NOT to fix it is to embrace pseudoscience like what RFK is spreading.

SV's avatar

You can say it again, but it's not accurate.

See, I can do it too. ;-)

As someone who has grown up and lived in other countries besides the US, I've seen how other countries handle health first hand.

The US is an utter sinkhole when it comes to health for EVERYONE except the wealthy.

You should do a little reading on economics and health in the US. If everyone did that, they'd be utterly TERRIFIED of what's coming.

Improv's avatar

I am very aware of how other countries handle health firsthand. And I agree that the US handles it badly for everyone but the wealthy. This is why I said what I said above regarding single-payer at least as a baseline - that's the most clear route to improving healthcare in the US.

SV's avatar

Wait, so you agree that 'the US handles it badly for everyone but the wealthy' and yet the US is not the worst of all Western Democratic countries? Make that make sense.

The US 'healthcare' system has been co-opted and corrupted by the 'pseudo health care' specialists, the Pharmaceutical companies.

Have you ever heard of the New England Journal of Medicine? You should have. It's one of the wold's most prominent medical journals.

Marcia Angell, a physician from Boston University School of Medicine, specializing in Pathology quit being editor after 20 years.

She states (and I'm quoting)

"It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the New England Journal of Medicine.”

She's certainly not an advocate of "pseudo science". ;-)

The issue is government involvement in healthcare. We're always going to get people appointed for political considerations, and sooner or later that will lead to characters like RFK.
