The deception that is being spewed in this column about Good's death is abysmal.
How many "observers" park their cars perpendicularly to traffic in the middle of the road? Not to mention that she very clearly was disobeying authorities by attempting to "drive away" (oddly in the direction of the officer in front of her).
Tip for anyone and everyone: when am officer of the law is giving you commands, particularly when you are violating the law, it's generally a good idea to listen to authorities and not escalate matters.
This is victim-blaming at its finest. You jumped from *she parked her car weird* and *she tried to drive away* to *she lost her life because she 'escalated things.' But parking weird and then trying to drive away does not justify getting shot at point-blank range by an armed agent of the state. Those don't amount to an "escalation" that justifies her execution.
"In a free country, it is hard to justify an agency dedicated to stalking and rounding up people." Not all criminals turn themselves in, you know. The police have to track some of them down and arrest them.
They're not criminals, though. Did you read the piece? Dalmia cites David J. Bier's research that shows that Trump has diverted 87% of HIS, 69% of ATF, 47% of DEA, 21% of FBI, and 17% of U.S. Marshall personnel from "crime fighting towards mass deportations."
At what cost. As it currently stands, I believe Biden depirted more in 2024 than Trump did in 2025 and Biden did it with less money, cruelty or destruction.
As the piece mentions, violent criminals can be handled in regular courts. And there is a pretty elaborate structure in DHS to enforce the rest of the immigration law.
To replace ICE, Shikha Dalmia proposes to assign the job of enforcing immigration laws to local government. Yet, the local governments of the so-called "sanctuary" cities have already refused to assist enforcement of immigration laws. How likely are mayors and local police forces to enforce laws they have explicitly refused to enforce?
If you would abolish ICE, the way to do it is to elect a veto-proof majority of Congress willing to abolish it. Is that possible? Jason Johnson, a journalism professor at Morgan State University, wrote "Every Democratic candidate in 2026, from dog catcher to state senate to Congress, should make abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, a part of their platform. However, when I asked Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin directly in October, 'Why won’t Democrats run against ICE in the 2026 midterms?' he offered a word salad sprinkled with maybe later dressing."
Money talks. We saw the Sinclair-Nexstar debacle about Jimmy Kimmel. And, the other day we saw the reaction by bankers and economists around the world come out publicly about Trump’s stated intention to get rid of Jerome Powell. What does all this tell you? Money is absolutely the most powerful tool against Trump.
What I suggest is the following. Organize an economic boycott that’s doable by the millions of people who oppose Trump. Get entities like the NAACP, AARP, ACLU, Indivisible, MoveOn, and unions to use their resources to schedule and publicize the plan, and encourage their members to participate. What would be the plan? On consecutive Saturdays and Sunday do not spend online, at big box stores, do not buy gasoline and food at grocery stores or Target or Walmart. Do not go to restaurants, movie theaters, any venue that offers entertainment; and do not go to automobile dealerships. Do no banking online or at the ATM. Deprive these companies and institutions of your monetary involvement. Do not open apps like Facebook, YouTube, Amazon. Deprive these outfits of their advertising revenue coming from their ads on these platforms.
You get the idea, right? Recognition of money power of the American people will shout loudly in boardrooms, and at offices and kitchen tables. And, the beauty of it is that all people have to do is to do nothing that involves money. Plus, there’s no need to fear retribution. No ICE or border patrol agents will be knocking down your door. There will be no one that they can specifically target.
Do any of these suggestions on Saturdays and Sundays for weeks or months, till finally the shareholders and corporatists and business owners howl at the Congress to rein in Trump, and Trump actually stops his rein of economic and physical terror against the American people, Venezuela, Cuba, Greenland by using UCE, border patrol, and the military.
Be creative. Come up with your own plan to hold back your attention and your money.
If this is not the time to do this, I ask, when? When it’s too late?
#abolishice !

Good escalated things and lost her life for it.

If I had not read the article, how could I have quoted it?
Good point!
That's not what's happening. Not even close.

We need someone to enforce immigration law, but this isn’t it!

And the Democrats would get annihilated for it.
Here’s my view.

I wish some ne would produce the stats on how many Obama and/or Biden deported with less money, death and ruin of small businesses.
